This post is about the creation of a DIY amplifier. Here are some pictures of the build process. I built a complete system with a DAC and a amplifier with 2x300Watts, it is based upon Tripath technology.
Next set of images shows the DAC itself. The dac chip is an old (1993) Phillips TDA1545A, this is one of the last DAC chips with a R2R ladder inside. An R2R ladder is the simplest theoretically correct way of doing an D/A conversion. Newer “high performance” dac uses some cheaper but very potimized approximation circuitry (delta-sigma DAC operation)
Here are the final result, I bought an oscilloscope for testing purposes.
