Some very good Hamburgers

This post is about prototyping a new hamburger patty with onion and corn that melted together with cheese. You can also add other vegetables such as celery, peppers, garlic, chillis, leek or even carrots. The only thing you have to do is cut them into small pieces and dry them abit in the oven at low temperature, or in the frying pan with some oil. This step does take some time so its the first time to start with!

Cut two big onions into small pieces and fry them in a pan with some oil until it starts to get caramellized. Fry the onions one by one, and give it a stir sometimes so it gets a even color.

I put the corn in a lasagna pan and even out such that the corn does not lie ontop of each other. This makes the corn dry faster and more evenly in the oven at 100 – 150 degrees celcius for 10-20 minutes. You can also fry the corn in a pan the same way as the onions. When the corn is finished, they will be somewhat browner and shrunken. The last pic show some ideal looking corns.

Second stage is to cook the minced meat, I use minced beef but you can also use other types. Do not fry the thing to its death, as it will be put in the frying pan later too. In the end I put the meat, corn and onions in a big pot and give it some seasoning. Cumin, Pepper, salt and soy sauce is a good combination!

Now it is time for making the burgers. You need a frying pan with a good nonstick coating. This is very important to prevent the cheese from sticking to it. I used a nonstick pot cause I did not have an good pan.

You put approx 100 grams the mix into the teflon pan, add some cheese (not too much) and stir until the thing starts to clump together using a high temperature setting. At the right time you form the thing together as a hamburger patty and use a lower setting temperature to get a crunchyness on the bottom without charcoaling it. Be careful when lifting the burger patty from the pan, as they can be fragile.

Frying the bread with the cut side up and with the top grill on makes the cut side crunchy. A neat trick is to put a slice of cheddar ontop of the bread too (after the bread have had some tan)

The burger patty on the top left looks just about right, usually I only fry one side. Feel free to use whatever ingredients you want, but the burger patty is very tasteful even alone.
