I had an old computer with some files on it that I needed. The problem was that my tv would only accept vga cable, and I did not have one. So I tried this little improvised hack where I use some thin wire going between each of the VGA pinholes. I was quite impressed on how well it worked, the colors were all fine!
I was happy retrieve my files, save the money and time going to the store to buy one. However be careful if you want to do this yourself.
